Class Description

This exciting workshop will introduce you to the beautiful art of Ute beading—a tradition passed down through generations that tells stories, honors culture, and sparks creativity. Whether you're brand new to beading or already have some skills, you’ll get to learn traditional techniques, explore colorful designs, and create something meaningful with your own hands. You’ll also learn about the cultural importance of beadwork in Ute life, from regalia to everyday items. Students can choose one of these three creative projects to make and take home: *Beaded Keychain Charm – Use traditional colors and patterns to design a keychain that you can carry with pride. *Mini Beaded Pouch – Stitch a small pouch perfect for holding treasures or gifting to someone special. *Beaded and Painted Feather Hair Clip – Craft a colorful painted feather clip inspired by nature and Ute traditions. Come bead, paint, learn, and connect with your culture in a fun, welcoming space!
