Leadership & Learning Through Horses
Student Ages: 10-18 Date: Friday, June 20th Time: 8:15-11:30AM Meet at Towaoc Comm.Center by 8:15AM
Class Description
Students can only register once for this class during June. As w need to allow equitable opportunities for other students to participate as well. This dynamic workshop is sponsored by Drug Free Community program and uses equine-assisted learning to foster leadership skills and social-emotional learning (SEL) in students by building authentic relationships with horses. At Medicine Horse, horses help people and people help horses—creating a unique environment where students develop self-awareness, empathy, and communication skills. Guided by experienced facilitators, participants engage in safe, honest interactions with horses that illuminate how thoughts, emotions, and behaviors influence relationships. These powerful experiences help students build confidence, regulate emotions, improve communication, cultivate trust, enhance social skills, and strengthen their capacity for collaboration and leadership. We will meet at the Towaoc Community Center promptly by 8:30AM and travel to Mancos to the Medicine Horse Ranch at 40700 Rd J, Mancos, CO 81328. Please wear jeans and closed toe shoes.
