Class Description
Join us after school for a hands-on workshop where Ute Mountain Ute students (ages 10–18) will craft their own shawls or regalia (sashes) for the sacred Ute Bear Dance. Learn the history and cultural significance of this powerful tradition while gaining sewing skills, exploring the Ute language through storytelling, and connecting with your heritage in a creative, supportive space. What You’ll Do: Discover the meaning of the Bear Dance Learn Ute words tied to art and regalia Practice sewing and design techniques Create a shawl or regalia to showcase Final Celebration: Show off your finished piece in a mini cultural presentation for family and friends as you prepare to participate in the Ute Bear Dance with pride
